• Must have great familiarity with the operating system (in this case z/OS).
• Perform software installation and evaluation.
• Perform software upgrade. (e.g. upgraded DB2 version xxx to yyy)
• Perform tuning at the system level.
Education and Experience:
• Computer Information Systems (CIS), Bachelors degree, Preferred. Minimum of 8 years experience with verifiable skills on Mainframe and z/OS DB2.
• Experience with z/OS DB2 v8.
• Experience with DB2 DataShareplex technology.
• Expert knowledge of z/OS. Experience with SAN storage systems.
• Experience with DB2 Installation, migration & fall-back.
• Clear understanding of database fundamentals.
• Experience with a variety of DB2 utilities such as Explain, Analyze, Bind, Load/Unload, Reorg, Image Copy, and other DB2 utilities. Experience with Omegamon/DB2PM.
• Knowledge of CA Tools such as Detector and SQL/Analyze.
• Knowledge of SQL, IBMLink, SMP / E.
• Experience in scripting in JCL.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Ability to code and recompile packages and code functions and procedures preferred.
• Experience in tuning SQL code. Ability to write clear and detail-oriented documentation of operating procedures.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and methodologies for troubleshooting.
• Exceptional communication, organization and planning skills.

Job Function and Key Duties & Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will possess the skills required to effectively support an infrastructure composed of DB2 v8 regions with Data Sharing enabled, IMS Rel 8.1 or higher regions and all of the components used to monitor, maintain and enhance the functionality of those database systems. They will function as a senior z/OS DB2 and IMS System DBA. They will be able to work both as a member of a team and independently, and be self-motivated.
The responsibilities of this position entail the following broad responsibilities of the DB2 and IMS infrastructure on z/OS.
• Provide System DBA support for the all of the DB2 and IMS regions. Provide Production DB2 and IMS region support on a 24 hours x 6.5 days basis. Monitor database performance. Investigate and resolve performance issues. Identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems, working jointly with other team members. Ensure the integrity, security of the DB2 and IMS infrastructures by ensuring that all security standards and guidelines are adhered to. Provide operational backup and recovery of DB2 and IMS databases. Responsible for backup and recovery of the DB2 and IMS regions.
• Responsible for ensuring that Disaster recovery objectives are met, and participate in scheduled disaster recovery tests. Research, test and coordinate z/OS DB2 and IMS patches, maintenance and upgrades. Maintain software currency for all z/OS database related products supported by the team. Open problems incidents with vendors as needed, and obtain and implement solutions. Provide support for other DB2 and IMS third-party vendor products. Ensure DB2 and IMS regions meet all availability and performance Service Level Agreements. Ensure existing Best Practices are adhered to; enhance those Best Practices as needed. Ensure regions meet availability and performance Service Level Agreements.
